BURGLARIES

Major Issue in our area

We have been advised by our local Police Sergeant Paul Potter that there has been a substantial increase with Burglaries in our area.

He advises everyone to keep all doors locked and alarms on and to be aware.

Lets keep our eye's open and report anything suspicious

FLY TIPPERS

FLY TIPPERS

Major Issue in our area

Fly tipping in the HADRA area is unfortunately on the increase including “now" on public roads, and it is suspected this may well increase. This costs the council substantial sums to remove. Residents are requested to be extra vigilant and to investigate suspicious vehicle movements at unusual times.

Any successful prosecution can only be achieved with the registration number of the vehicle concerned and the council is keen to enlist the support of residents in this respect.

Remember this could happen to you and be your garage or drive that the rubbish is dumped in.

Contact the council on 0208 726 6200 or email streetscene@croydon.gov.uk Please do not remove any evidence, leave this to the council to handle as there may be information in the rubbish to point to the perpetrator.

Rogue Traders

Rogue Traders

Guidelines

  1. Never let anyone into your home unless you are sure of there credentials

  2. Always ask for business cards or business address and telephone number (not mobile)

  3. If they say there is an urgent problem with your roof, drive, tree's and boundary fences. Always get a reliable third party to check the problem before you part with any money

  4. Only agree to pay for the work after completion

  5. Be very wary of anyone offering to provide a product or service for cash only

  6. Avoid anyone who says they are only in the area for a short while and can do a special deal

Croydon Trading Standards operate a 'Check a Trade' an approved trader scheme.
For details of vetted local traders call 0845 408 4866 or visit www.checkatrade.com.

The Guidelines above have been formulated from advice by
Sergeant Paul Potter of the Kenley Safer neighbourhoods Team
