Gas Works in Hartley Hill
We have notified Hartley Hill resident of our reservations concerning the gas main work in Hartley Hill. Our concern is that residents will be losing gas supply during a time of inclement weather, but we have been assured that everything will be done to minimise any disruption to service.
The work will start on the 21st November 2011 at the Hartley Old Road end of Hartley Hill and continue for anything between 8 and 14 weeks. We are advising local residents who use Hartley Hill to avoid this route from this date.
At some stage traffic lights will be in operation as a safety measure.
If you are avoiding Hartley Hill please be aware that this could have an impact on the Old Lodge Lane and Brighton Road traffic lights.
SAVE COULSDON COPPICE
It was 1984 that local residents were worried that the 6 acres of woodland, left over from development, would also be developed. They formed an action group and were able to secure this area for public use and a nature reserve.
London Wildlife Trust have looked after this site, with the help of local residents, but are now not able to continue.
We surely cannot allow their good work to be lost or the coppice to be threatened. We must make sure this woodland is preserved and managed…… but we need your help.
On SATURDAY NOVEMBER 26Th WE ARE MEETING IN THE BIRCHFIELD CAR PARK (junction of Ruthwick Rise and Birchfield Close) at 10 am. To both discuss the way forward and also to do some preliminary litter picking and clearance of the site. (Coffee and biscuits will be provided)
Please com and give help and support, you will be very welcome.
Cllr. Terry Lenton Cllr. Justin Cromie Cllr. Chris Wright
